Feb 16, 2016
Omaha, Nebraska – (February 16, 2016) – Nicholas Jorgensen of Ideal, South Dakota, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Farm Credit Services of America (FCSAmerica).
The financial cooperative’s Board appointed Jorgensen to a four-year term that begins April 1, 2016, and ends March 31, 2020. He fills a seat that was vacated by Nick Vande Weerd of Brookings, South Dakota, who now serves on the Board of Directors for AgriBank, FCB, a funding bank for Farm Credit associations.
FCSAmerica is governed by a Board that reflects the diverse agricultural backgrounds and interests of its customer-owners. Jorgensen brings to the Board the perspective of young and beginning producers.
“Our directors are proud that FCSAmerica is a leading lender to young and beginning producers, and we thank Mr. Jorgensen for ensuring the needs and challenges of the next generation of agriculture continue to be represented within our cooperative,” said Jeremy Heitmann, Board chairman. Heitmann is a southeast Nebraska producer who joined the FCSAmerica Board as a young and beginning producer in 2008.
Jorgensen owns and operates Jorgensen Land and Cattle with his father, cousin and uncle. He is enrolled in the Masters in Business Administration program at Dakota Wesleyan University and holds bachelors and masters degrees from South Dakota State University. In addition to the FCSAmerica Board of Directors, Jorgensen serves on the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council.
