Why we chose agriculture

I spent 11 years as a wildland firefighter. When we decided to start a family, I knew that farming provided a better lifestyle for my family.

How I prepared myself for agricultural business

I’m a fifth-generation farmer. I learned as I helped my grandfather and father.

We’re not afraid to try new things. But, sometimes you just have to stay the course. When it works, it works and you don’t deviate too much from the tried and true.

The future of agriculture and our operation

There are over 7 billion people in the world and that number keeps growing. To meet the food demands, we must be as efficient as possible with what we have. That includes evaluating our crop genetics and farming practices. We would like to grow our business by expanding our land base to create a viable business for the next generation.

Challenges we face and how FCSAmerica is able to assist us

Weather is always a factor. FCSAmerica provides crop and hail insurance to protect me. Also, they help us purchase more land to grow our farm. FCSAmerica has been a good partner to make sure that I have funds available.

What I enjoy most about farming

I love the freedom to make my own choices and be my own boss. Farming also provides me flexibility so I can spend time with my family.
