Preparing for a career in agriculture

Before I became a farmer, I worked as a mechanic which has helped me in a lot of ways. As a mechanic I always had to be thinking on my feet and that rolls right into farming because every day can be a challenge. Plus, now I can work on my own equipment.

My relationship with Farm Credit

I began working with Farm Credit through my dad. The experience I’ve had working with my Farm Credit team has been great. I work with them on crop insurance and on the lending side. They’re a phone call away anytime I have questions or need help making a decision.

Tools and expertise

Farm Credit has brought great expertise to my operation in all kinds of different ways. They offer a lot of tools from AgriBuy to Optimum, and provide guidance on lending and interest rates. Having these tools and options available to me has been a huge help.

What I enjoy most about farming

It’s great to be outside and enjoy nature. I also have nieces and nephews that come and help me on the farm. I get a lot of enjoyment from watching them run around, letting them ride along with me and seeing the smiles on their faces.

Supporting me as a young producer

Farm Credit has supported me as a young producer in multiple ways. They have helped me streamline my operation, look at different ways to read my budgets and they offer different educational resources that allow me to learn and meet with other farmers.
