How we got started in agriculture

Lori: Ron and I got married in 1984. I grew up on a dairy farm milking cows by hand, so my background was different from Ron’s, but I had fair warning of what farming would be like in the good times and bad. I knew there would be hard work and long hours involved.

What we enjoy most about farming

Ron: I enjoy working with livestock and improving the farm from a productivity standpoint. It isn’t a chore and it isn’t a job to me.

Why we work with FCSAmerica

Ron: Our operation has improved because of FCSAmerica’s team effort. We feel comfortable doing business with them because they are very knowledgeable. Our loans and crop insurance are under the same roof.

Lori: My role in the operation is the bookkeeping – whether it be payroll, the accounts receivable or the accounts payable. The technology FCSAmeria offers has really eased some of my concerns about the numbers. If I want to know our balance, the terms of a loan or our interest rate, I can find out with the click of a button.

What success means on our farm

Ron: Success to me is being able to provide an opportunity for the next generation to step in and be successful in this operation.
