How I prepared myself for agricultural business

I started out at Casper College and then transferred to the University of Wyoming to get an ag business degree. I’ve always paid attention to what dad was doing to learn from him.

My business approach

I’m progressive. I like things to work well and be efficient. If something we’re doing isn’t working, we try something different. We’ve updated our vaccination protocols because the new vaccines are more effective. However, some of them are excessive and not cost-effective for our operation. We’re always evaluating what’s best for our situation.

My vision for the operation

A long-term vision for me would be to run 1,000 cows and 300 to 400 head of yearlings as well as owning my own ranch. That vision may not be feasible at this moment, but it’s something to look forward to and try to figure out how to get there.

Why I work with FCSAmerica

I started out with FCSAmerica in 2008 because my dad was a customer there. Our loan officer gave me a loan on a trailer, and then on some cows. They’ve been good to me, and I’ve done everything I can to keep up with my payments and be a good customer. I’m appreciative.

Their people are personable, friendly and always call you back. If they don’t know an answer to a question, they find the answer.
