My role on our family ranch

I’m proud to say that we’re a fifth-generation ranch. I have a daughter, a niece and two nephews, so we are also carrying on a family legacy. I primarily take care of the cows, but I also help in other areas.

Working with Farm Credit

A lot of the expertise we get from Farm Credit comes from our loan officer. He’s great at working with us on each individual deal we do and walking us through the things we don’t understand. The staff seems to have a personal investment in our operation and that makes a big difference when you’re looking at your future.  

What I enjoy about ranching

There’s not a lot of industries where you can take your children to work every day. I was able to do that with my daughter. It makes you pretty proud to see your kids learn the same things you did. I get a lot of enjoyment out of seeing my daughter grow up and become the young woman she is today.

Advice to others getting started in agriculture

Agriculture is a great lifestyle and there’s a lot of people out there that can help you along. Farm Credit is a great resource to have. Even when I have questions that are not lender-related they help me do the research to find the information I’m looking for.
