Why I work with Farm Credit

I started working with Farm Credit right out of high school. The fact they were willing to take a chance with a young guy starting out was a big deal to me. They’re not afraid to tell me if my eyes are getting too big on something, but they really try to work with me.

Our vision for the future

Our vision for our operation is being able to pass this on to our kids. You can farm as much as you want, be as big or as little, but passing it on to the next generation is really the end goal.

Support from my financial team

My financial team at Farm Credit is really great. Every year we go over balance sheets and cash flows, and it really helps me keep up on my operation and not let the numbers go by the wayside. I feel like working with a cooperative is great because they're invested in your success. They really try to make your operation the best as possible. They want you to succeed.

Advice to others getting started in agriculture

Whatever skills you have, agriculture is a way to put them to work. You don’t necessarily need four years of college or to be one hundred thousand dollars in debt. If you’re willing to work hard and you have a passion for it, there are so many different things you can do.
