Why I chose agriculture
My grandpa quit farming when I was a freshman in high school. He let me take over one of his farms. It was overwhelming at first but I kept going because I wanted to succeed. I’ve always wanted to be a farmer. It’s all I’ve ever known.
How I prepared myself for agricultural business
Growing up, I worked with my grandpa and as a hired hand for other farmers. I started farming by myself when I was in high school. I was attending community college when I rented 1,000 acres from my neighbor. I knew it was going to be a lot of work so I quit college and never looked back. I belong on the farm, it’s in my blood.
My business approach
I make smart decisions based on knowing what I can handle financially and physically. I would say I tend to stick with what works best for me. I may not always have the newest tractors and devices available, but I have equipment that allows me to get the job done.
The future of my operation
Right now I have plenty for me to handle. Eventually, I would like to add acres by purchasing my own land instead of renting. FCSAmerica’s competitive rates will be able to help me.
What I enjoy most about farming
I enjoy spending time outdoors and as a fifth generation farmer, this job is perfect for me.
What I do in my spare time
I enjoy hunting and spending time at the lake with friends.
Why I work with FCSAmerica
I was only 19 when I had the opportunity to farm on my own. I decided to go with FCSAmerica because I didn’t have to have a co-signer. They walked me through the entire process and really wanted to see me succeed. They also offer competitive rates which helps a lot. I’d call them a one-stop shop for farmers.
