How I got started in agriculture

I got started in farming 22 years ago. I came back to help my dad with our dairy and beef operation and from there I started my own operation. We’ve grown substantially since then and we have three daughters who are interested in taking over.

Why I work with Farm Credit

I started working with Farm Credit around 20 years ago with a real estate note. I was motivated to work with them because they offered competitive rates and long-term amortization. I continue to work with them after all these years because the knowledge and experience they bring to my operation.

They know my capital and risk management needs

Working with Farm Credit for my crop insurance is different from other providers simply because they have a better understanding of my operation. They help me select the right coverage by tying in risk management with my capital needs so that I can successfully fulfill my obligations throughout the year.

Opportunities to learn

Through Farm Credit meetings, like GrowingOn® or the webinars, you get a different perspective on challenges in agriculture, opportunities in agriculture and how other producers are trying to grow their business. Sometimes we get wrapped up in our day to day, and by attending the meetings you gain a different perspective on how to manage and market your operation.

What I enjoy most about agriculture

What I enjoy most about working in agriculture is the independence and freedom it brings to us as a family, working outside and watching the crops and cattle grow.
