Land Grant Scholarships

Farm Credit Services of America offers multiple annual scholarships to students at four land grant universities. Iowa State University, South Dakota State University, University of Nebraska - Lincoln and University of Wyoming scholarships are $2,500 each.

How to Apply:

Students who meet the selection criteria complete Farm Credit Services of America's Scholarship Application. Applications are available at the participating colleges or students may click to download the application for Iowa State University, South Dakota State University, University of Nebraska - Lincoln and University of Wyoming. Then, select Save to create a copy on your computer (Microsoft Word document). Applicants must also write a one- to two-page essay explaining their career plans following graduation. Applications and essays go to the universities for screening.

After the winners are determined, Farm Credit Services of America notifies the recipients by letter. Recipients will be notified by April 15, 2016.

Selection Criteria:

  • College junior or senior in good academic standing for the academic year scholarship is received.
  • Enrolled in the College of Agriculture with course work emphasis in agribusiness or economics. See university land grant online link or printed application for specific course work emphasis criteria.
  • Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 preferred.
  • Preference is given to residents of Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota or Wyoming.
  • One- to two-page essay on how the applicant plans to use his/her major in the chosen career (which must be in an agribusiness-related field).
  • Agricultural background or work-related experience in agriculture.
  • Previous Farm Credit Services of America scholarship winners are not eligible.
