Producers Encouraged to Implement Multiple Strategies to Manage Crop Risk and Protect Profit in 2013 at FCSAmerica GrowingOn® 2013 Meetings

FCSAmerica hosted GrowingOn® meetings in 31 locations across Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota from late-November 2012 through January 2013. The purpose of the meetings was to provide relevant, interesting information producers can use to help them plan, reduce risk and grow in 2013.

Steven Johnson, Farm and Ag Business Management Specialist with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, was the main presenter. In his “Beyond Outlook: Managing Crop Price Risks” presentation, he reviewed current U.S. Crop Supply/Demand estimates and weekly futures charts, discussed 2013 crop cost estimates and price forecasts, gave a variety of risk management strategies for managing 2013 farm revenue. FCSAmerica crop insurance specialists presented valuable information regarding changes to the federal crop insurance plans and policy provisions. They also introduced FCSAmerica’s online system, AgriPoint®, which helps create marketing plans – bundling crop insurance, breakeven analyses, profit targets and more in one program. If you’d like more information regarding 2013 insurance changes or AgriPoint, contact your local FCSAmerica office or call 1-800-884-FARM.
