OMAHA, Nebraska - Farm Credit Services of America (FCSAmerica) is hosting its annual GrowingOn® meetings across Iowa, beginning in December.
Now in its 17th year, GrowingOn 2020 features expanded offerings to help agricultural producers prepare for a new season. For the first time, Iowa producers have a choice between three speakers, each presenting industry insights at a different location.
Steve Johnson, a farm and ag business management specialist for Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, has been the featured speaker since GrowingOn began. He returns to GrowingOn to discuss “The Road Ahead” and where 2020 might fall in agriculture’s profitability cycles.
Dr. David Kohl, professor emeritus at Virginia Tech and part owner of a dairy, will lend his expertise to two topics. “Positioning for Success in Cyclical Economies” examines economic trends and their implications at the farm level. In “Positioning for Success in the Economic Reset,” Kohl takes a new look at the burn rate for both working capital and core land equity and discusses the adjustments producers and lenders need to make to manage current industry trends.
Dr. Brent Gloy, an economist specializing in ag financing and business management, will focus on uncertainties producers face in 2020 and how to manage them.
Below are the locations and dates for FCSAmerica’s GrowingOn meetings. While attendance is free, pre-registration is required. Registration details can be found at GrowingOn.com or by calling 1-800-884-FARM.
