How I got started in agriculture

Production ag has been in my blood since I was little. I’ve been driving tractors since I could reach the pedals. It’s the only thing I’ve ever wanted to do.

How our operation has changed

Since returning to my hometown, my wife and I have been able to purchase our first farm and we’ve expanded our cattle herd. We’ve also picked up more crop acres and have made some capital purchases along the way.

My relationship with FCSAmerica 

Farm Credit gave me my first line of credit. I’ve been with them since day one. My father had a positive experience working with them for his lending needs, so when it came time for me to begin farming it only made sense to choose Farm Credit.

Farm Credit has helped improve my business because they’ve given me tools to help me succeed. They have a lot of ongoing training that I’ve been greatly appreciative of, and when I call into our local office, they’re always very accommodating.

Advice to other beginning farmers

My advice to other beginning farmers is to treat your farm like a business. Use tools that will give you a competitive edge and allow you to know your true costs.
