How I got started working with Farm Credit

Farm Credit is like family. They’ve been working with us since my grandparents started farming, and my dad works with them, too. They take care of almost every aspect of the farm for us, including our home loan, our line of credit, machinery loans and crop insurance.

Growth in our operation

Since I’ve been back on the farm, we’ve had to implement some new things to support two families in the operation. We accumulated more land through neighbors, added more cattle and bought a sprayer.

My business has improved drastically thanks to the advice Farm Credit brings to our operation. Even though it might be a down year, they are still upbeat and have the specialization and expertise to come up with scenarios that work for us. 

Keeping up with technology

Farm Credit is always on top of technology. If there’s something new coming out, they know about it and are developing it, often before the competition.

What I enjoy most about farming

I enjoy getting to work with my dad every day, seeing neighbors and the camaraderie of everyone helping each other out. There are a lot of long days, but it doesn’t seem like work all the time. The kids get to come with me. They can jump in the tractor and ride along. We might not be out playing or on a big fancy vacation, but we’re always together.
